Octavo, red cloth with gilt titling to top board and spine. Top edge gilt. xii, 336pp. This book is in poor shape and has been wet at some time in its history. The boards are stained, soiled and the fore-edge of the cloth is coming unglued. The lower edge of the first 60 pages show marks of damp-staining. The spine is broken at the last page (p336). The gilt to the top edge is dirty. This is, nevertheless, a rare book and many pages are uncut. Records the massacre of white settlers in the region of Lake Okoboji and Spirit Lake in 1857.
