First edition. Duodecimo (7.75in x 5.5in) red cloth with title label to spine. xi, 21pp. Frontispiece and title page are toned from contact with tissue guard. Lacks dustjacket. Tile label is somewhat rubbed and there are a couple of small marks to the spine. Else a clean copy in Vg condition. Seeger was an American poet killed in active service in 1916 during the Battle of the Somme, when only 28. His letters and Diary were published in the year following his death.

An American poet, he died serving with the French Foreign Legion in World War I. The introduction by William Archer is a short biographical essay and rationalizes the poets attitude to life. The poems contain - of course - the poem that is one of the great poems from World War I: "I have a rendezvous with death, at some disputed barricade .."
